Legado: Behind The Design
Every element of Legado is designed to complement the dining experience; a space where atmosphere, architecture, and cuisine come together seamlessly.
On arrival, guests are greeted by an impressive display of daily catch – fresh fish and seafood found studded across the menu – sat across from the Taberna, our pintxos and tapas bar, open to patrons throughout the day and night. The restaurant sits ahead, a dramatic double-height ceiling dining room flooded with natural light during the day. One wall showcases exposed London Stock brickwork, another is adorned with a floor-to-ceiling wine display studded with Spain’s finest.
At the heart of the room is an open kitchen and counter, where guests can watch the chefs at work, including two custom-built asadores (ovens) – one for lamb, one for pork – crafted in situ by specialists from Madrid’s renowned Hornos Jumaco Maestro.
The whole room is set to a contemporary palette of greens, pinks, and terracotta, each area reflecting a different region of Spain – all a part of Nieves’ life, and legacy. Fluted ceilings follow from those found in Barcelona, plaster detailing is reminiscent of the traditional styles of Segovia, and the metal work on the mezzanine mirrors that of Bilbao.
